What is Devotional Crafting?
Devotional crafting is the practice of using crafting and art making to enhance your spiritual life. Rooted in the medieval mystic tradition, our resources help you engage a three step process to turn your hobby into a spiritual discipline; intention, awareness and reflection. Blending scripture-inspired craft projects with reflective prompts and a Bible study podcast, devotional time becomes fun and nourishing.
Devotional crafting isn't just about making beautiful things - although that's a bonus! It’s about training yourself to dwell in God's presence while you create tangible pieces that reflect your faith.
How can I use devotional crafting in my community?
1
Join our stitch alongs. Each SAL pairs a free scripture-inspired cross stitch pattern with a reflective podcast led by two Lutheran pastors. Additionally, each SAL provides a curated list of craft options for those who aren't into cross stitch. While many of these crafts are our own brain children, sometimes we refer you to other crafters we love.
4
Organize a craft in. Invite your friends to a retreat where everyone brings their fave craft. Break the retreat into sections where you encounter the podcast together. Have a group discussion as you craft using the provided prompts after each episode.
2
Organize a small group.
Are you small group leader looking for fresh content? Each SAL averages 5 weeks and is broken into theme. Break the podcast season into weekly sessions. Watch or listen together while crafting, leaving room to discuss the provided prompts afterwards.
3
DIY Craft Bible Study.
Craft using the scripture-inspired patterns in our shop. Listen to music or audio recordings of scripture passages while you craft.
5
Be a lurker in our Facebook Group page. Every artwork needs an audience! Let God inspire you by the beauty others crafted.
6
Listen to the podcast while adulting. Remember the monk who turned peeling potatoes into a devotional practice because he did so prayerfully? Use the podcast to help you be intentional as you go about your daily life.
