Cultivating a Contemplative Heart as You Craft

Begin Lent with intentionality, awareness, and reflection in your craft practice. Here are some ways to center your heart as you stitch this week.

Breathe with Awareness – As you stitch, pay attention to your breath. Does it change when you focus? Does it slow during repetitive motions? Let your breath be a reminder of God’s presence with you in each moment.

Notice God’s Presence – Where have you encountered God this week? Take time to reflect on a moment when God surprised or inspired you.

Engage with Scripture – Read or listen to John 2:13-25, then reflect on these questions:

  • Unraveling Expectations – Jesus’ actions in the temple disrupted religious and political norms. Where might God be challenging your expectations and stretching your faith?

  • Sacred Disruption – Jesus’ passion for justice led him to overturn the status quo. Has your creative work ever been an act of disruption or protest? How can creativity help us channel righteous anger into faithful action?

  • Rebuilding with Intention – Jesus spoke of tearing down and rebuilding the temple. What spiritual patterns in your life need to be unraveled so that something truer and more faithful can take shape?

Listen & Reflect – Join Pastors Tina, Angel, and Laura on our companion podcast as they explore John 2:13-25 and its call to transformation. Episode drops on March 3, 2025.

May your stitching be a prayer, your breath a meditation, and your creativity a way to make space for God’s renewal this Lent.
